Project Description
MSV International Inc. was engaged to carry out Feasibility Studies and preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for 4/6-laning of NH-26 from Rajmarg Chouraha to Lakhnadon on the North–South–East–West (NSEW) Corridor in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The project corridor forms an important link in India’s national highway network, catering to high volumes of long-distance passenger and freight traffic.
The study was undertaken to assess technical, economic and environmental viability of capacity augmentation and to develop an implementable DPR in line with NHAI, MoRTH and ADB requirements.
MSV’s Role
MSV acted as the DPR and Feasibility Consultant, providing end-to-end consultancy services to support NHAI in planning and decision-making for the corridor upgradation.
Scope of Services
MSV’s scope included traffic surveys and projections, topographic and alignment studies, pavement and structural investigations, geometric design for 4/6-laning, junction and access planning, and road safety assessments. The assignment also covered preparation of detailed engineering designs, cost estimates, land acquisition plans, utility shifting proposals, and construction phasing strategies. Environmental and social assessments, economic and financial analysis, and preparation of bid-ready DPR documents were carried out in compliance with NHAI, MoRTH guidelines and ADB safeguard requirements.
Project Importance and Impact
Upgradation of NH-26 on the NSEW corridor significantly strengthens national and inter-state connectivity, improves travel speed and safety, and enhances freight efficiency along a key arterial route in Central India. The project supports smoother movement of industrial goods, agricultural produce and long-haul traffic, while reducing congestion, travel time and vehicle operating costs.
The DPR provides a robust foundation for sustainable highway development, aligning with national initiatives for capacity expansion of strategic corridors and contributing to economic growth, logistics efficiency and regional integration in Madhya Pradesh.
