Karonga to Songwe Section of the M1 Road, MALAWI

The project involves conducting a comprehensive Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and preparing a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the Karonga to Songwe section of the M1 Road in Malawi. The initiative aims to upgrade the road to improve safety, regional connectivity, and transport efficiency while addressing environmental and social concerns along the corridor.
MSV is responsible for undertaking environmental and social assessments, stakeholder consultations, preparation of mitigation measures, development of the Resettlement Action Plan, and ensuring compliance with national regulations and World Bank safeguards. The consultancy also provides advisory support for environmental management, social safeguards, and monitoring strategies during project execution.
The project enhances regional and rural connectivity, supports economic development, and ensures environmentally and socially responsible road improvements. The RAP protects affected communities, while the ESIA ensures sustainable infrastructure development in line with World Bank standards.
