Kerala Climate Resilient Agri Value Chain Modernisation Project (KERA), Kerala, India
One of India’s landmark agricultural projects, this World Bank-funded initiative sets new standards in sustainable infrastructure and value chain transformation across 14 districts using an AEZ approach. It includes low-carbon pilots on 20,000 ha (AWD in Palakkad/Thrissur), smallholder/MSME commercialization, MRV, and ecosystem payments. Key components encompass resilient practices with digital tools and extension services, 150 alliances with tree replants in 8 districts (NAWODHAN: 15,445x10ac), MSME/agri-tech support for 40k farmers, low-GHG parks, PMU/PIU with finance/M&E, and emergency response.
Provided consultancy to the SPMU, handling civil works design, procurement, supervision, quality assurance, and safeguards to ensure project execution met international standards.
KERA drives climate-resilient agriculture through innovative low-carbon practices and value chain modernization, benefiting smallholders and MSMEs while pioneering ecosystem payments and digital agromet tools—unique in scaling sustainable farming across Kerala’s diverse zones.
