Six-Laning of the Krishnagiri–Walajahpet Section of NH-48, India

This Project was honoured with the “Champions of Excellence in Highway Safety” award by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) under the National Highways Excellence Awards (NHEA) programme.

As an Independent Engineer during the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) phase of the Krishnagiri–Walajahpet section of NH-48 MSV provides independent technical and contractual oversight to ensure that the asset consistently meets prescribed performance standards, contractual obligations and service-level benchmarks defined under MoRTH/NHAI PPP frameworks.

The project spans approximately 148.30 km, connecting Krishnagiri to Walajahpet in Tamil Nadu and was implemented on a DBFO (Design–Build–Finance–Operate) basis under NHDP Phase-V. Today, this corridor forms a critical part of NH-48, one of India’s most important national highways, linking Chennai and Bengaluru and serving as a vital segment of the country’s longest north–south highway network.

During the O&M phase, MSV International Inc.’s scope includes monitoring pavement performance, drainage systems, road markings, signage, tolling infrastructure and safety features, along with verification of routine and periodic maintenance activities against contractual benchmarks. MSV undertakes regular safety assessments covering crash barriers, shoulder conditions, reflectivity and sight distances, reviews maintenance and renewal plans, certifies performance-linked milestones, and submits periodic compliance reports. MSV also acts as an independent technical arbiter in resolving O&M-related issues, ensuring sustained asset quality and user safety.

The project’s consistent focus on operational excellence and road safety has received prestigious national recognition.
