Description of project
Spokane International Airport, Second largest Airport in Washington state is located 5 mile west of downtown Spokane. Originally established in 1941 as a municipal airport and was given the present name in 1960, current terminal complex open in 1965 and a new control tower and terminal Rotanda was completed in 2006. The airport has two runways. Because of increasing air traffic a third runway is in the master plan.
The improvement project include design and construction supervision of extending runway 3-21 by 200 feet and a parallel taxi way and repaving to enable heavier aircraft landing & take off
Description of Actual Services provided
Collected, reviewed and analyzed existing data and reports related to climate, soil, environment and economic conditions, drawing and design of runway 3-21 and taxiways A&G, and existing pavement condition. Performed topographical surveys, geotechnical investigations, traffic analysis, obstacle limitation surveys, hydraulic analysis, feasibility study preliminary design and environmental impacts. Prepared final design documents for extension of runway and parallel taxiway, pavement and same minor structure. Prepared bidding documents, invitation and evaluation of tenders and provided assistance to client in contract negotiations.
Provided complete construction management, supervision, quality control and airports safety services. The work included checking and approval of construction drawing prepared by contractor; job mix design; reviewed and approved contractor’s quality control plan, safety plan, and workmanship. Supervise construction of all elements and assured adherence to contract documents; developed any needed variation; performed needed test for quality control; setting up of concrete batching plan, transporting, laying and compacting concrete; interpret contract document; monitored progress of work and suggested mitigation measures to mitigate delays; prepared as-built drawings; issued completion certificate, processed payments and advised client in dispute resolutions.
