Paradip-Chandikhole Highway Project (NH-53), Odisha, INDIA

MSV International Inc. is serving as the Independent Engineer (IE) for theRehabilitation and Upgradation of the Chandikhole-Paradip section of NH-53, a keyNHAI initiative aimed at strengthening one of Odisha’s most strategic highwaycorridors. The project upgrades the existing 4-lane highway into a modern 8-laneaccess-controlled facility, complete with major and minor bridges, vehicularunderpasses, service roads, toll plazas, rest areas and a range of highway amenitiesdesigned to improve efficiency, mobility and safety. This corridor plays a crucial rolein connecting Chandikhole with Paradip Port, one of India’s most important maritimegateways for coal, oil, fertilizer and industrial cargo.

As the Independent Engineer, MSV reviews and validates engineering designs,monitors construction progress, oversees QA/QC of materials and workmanship,verifies adherence to safety and environmental norms, certifies project milestones andfacilitates coordination between NHAI, contractors and key stakeholders to maintainproject quality and timelines.

This project stands out as a transformative port-connectivity corridor designed to handle high-volume freight movement with an 8-lane configuration, seamless access control, improved safety features and integrated logistics-supporting infrastructure. Its
advanced design and upgraded capacity make it one of the most significant highway enhancements in Eastern India, directly supporting industrial and maritime growth.

The upgradation of NH-53 will dramatically improve travel efficiency between Chandikhole and Paradip Port, reducing congestion, improving freight turnaround time and strengthening Odisha’s role as a rapidly developing industrial and logistics hub. The expressway will support faster cargo movement to and from Paradip Port, enhance regional trade competitiveness, boost economic development along the corridor and improve connectivity for surrounding communities delivering long-term socio-economic benefits across the state.
