Panipat–Jalandhar Highway 6-Laning Project, INDIA
MSV International Inc. served as the Independent Engineer/Authority’s Engineer forthe Panipat–Jalandhar Highway Six-Laning Project, a major NHAI initiative toupgrade the Panipat–Jalandhar section of NH-44 (formerly NH-1) into a high-capacitynational highway. Covering approximately 291 km across Haryana and Punjab, thecorridor forms one of North India’s most vital routes for freight and passengermovement, linking Panipat to Jalandhar through key economic and industrial belts.
Executed originally on a DBFO (Design–Build–Finance–Operate) model, the project carried an estimated cost of about ₹2,747 crore, with financial and operational adjustments evolving over time due to changes in scope and corridor management. The upgrade was undertaken to address rising traffic volumes, improve travel speeds, reduce congestion and strengthen inter-state connectivity. By expanding the existing four-lane highway to a six-lane fully developed corridor, the project aims to provide safer, signal-free, high-speed mobility with improved intersections, bridges and highway amenities.
MSV International Inc. played a central role by offering end-to-end independent engineering oversight to NHAI. MSV also coordinated closely with NHAI, concessionaires and multiple stakeholders to uphold technical integrity, contractual compliance and transparency throughout the execution period.
The six-laning of the Panipat–Jalandhar Highway has transformed a critical stretch of NH-44 into a modern, high-capacity express corridor. The upgraded highway enhances regional mobility, improves freight distribution efficiency, supports industrial growth and strengthens connectivity between major commercial, cultural and urban centres across Haryana and Punjab, making it a crucial backbone for Northern India’s transport network.
